Biography
Katherine Neumann (she/her) is a dancer and choreographer based in Seattle and San Francisco.
Katherine’s career highlights include five years as a company member of FACT/SF, under the artistic direction of Charles Slender-White, and two years as a company member with Liss Fain Dance. She has worked as a freelance artist with Robert Moses’ Kin and ka·nei·see | collective, among others. She has participated in various opportunities through ODC such as the Sandbox Series with Charles Slender-White, and three consecutive Pilot Program performances. Her choreographic work has been presented as part of the RAW residency with SAFEhouse Arts.
A Bay Area native, Katherine trained in classical ballet and modern dance at Danspace in Oakland under the direction of Beth Hoge and Claudine Naganuma. She holds a BFA in contemporary dance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA). During her time at UNCSA, Katherine performed works by Doug Varone, Mari Meade, Kira Blazek-Ziaii, Ming-Lung Yang, Natalie Desch, Brenda Daneils, Catherine Miller, Martha Graham, and Jose Limon. Katherine received additional training through workshops with the Mark Morris Dance Group, Doug Varone and Dancers, Trey McIntyre, and Anouk van Dijk.
In addition to her work as a dancer, Katherine is also a classical Pilates instructor. She began practicing Pilates to rehabilitate her own injuries and was amazed by how much stronger she was when she returned to dancing. Katherine is passionate about sharing her love of movement with people from all different backgrounds through her Pilates instruction.
